2/13/2018 5:47:10 AM

While the Winter Olympics are in full swing in Pyeongchang, students in Simcoe County are taking part in their own "Olympic Themed Challenge".

Over 150 Grade 8 Simcoe County District School Board students have been working in teams to develop and design box sleds out of cardboard.

The teams will race the sleds down the tubing hills at Snow Valley Ski Resort today and tomorrow (feb 13-14) and will be measured for speed and distance.

Police officers will be using radar guns catch the fastest box sled and to assist with judging.

The event will slso provide students with a chance to meet some of the people they might be going to school with next year in Grade 9.
