Boaters are being reminded to check the weather conditions before heading out on the water after receiving two calls over the weekend.

Just after midnight Monday (aug 7), the South Simcoe Police Marine Unit had to respond to two separate calls on Lake Simcoe.

One boater had engine trouble and had called a friend for help.

The second vessel then left to help but it too started to experience some issues.

The Marine Unit found both boats and 7 people were rescued.

Boaters are reminded to check weather conditions and equipment before heading out on the water.

A fully charged cell phone and enough gas for a round trip is always recommended.
