Another incumbent is calling it a day.

New Tecumseth Ward 1 Councillor Marc Biss announced on Facebook Wednesday night he will not be running for re-election this fall.

Biss says he made the decision after talking with his family.

In his statement Councillor Biss says he was "...honoured to have had the opportunity to serve (the) community..." and wished all of the candidates luck and success in the 2018 Municipal Election.

He also wanted to get the news out "...to let the residents and potential candidates know (his) decision before Monday's Elections Information Session hosted by the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing."

Last month, Biss was a candidate for the federal Conservative nomination for Simcoe-Grey which was won by Essa Mayor Terry Dowdall

Ward 6 will also elect a new councillor as Richard Norcross has decided he will seek the office of Deputy Mayor for New Tecumseth.
