A week ago, South Simcoe welcomed the New Year with a pair of tragedies.

38 year old Krestine Collins, a wife and mother of two, was killed in a house fire in Tottenham overnight January 1st.

Earlier in the evening, 18 year Avery Andrew of Everett was killed in a car accident on County Road 15.

Not only was were these tragedies hard on family and friends, but they play on the minds of first responders, as well.

Nottawasaga OPP Detachment Commander Steve Clegg says they have come along way in terms of dealing with traumatic incidences for first responders

He says they now have excellent mechanisms in place to pay attention to have first responders are dealing with traumatic situations
