Local jobs number are following a national and provincial trend.

Stats Can announced going into the weekend the national unemployment rate was steady at 6.2% in September.

The number stayed unchanged despite showing a 10th straight month of net job gains.

In Ontario, the unemployment rate fell from 5.7 to 5.6%.

That is the lowest level since July 2000.

Locally the jobless figure went from 6.4% in August to 6.1% in September.
