TRANS CANADA TRAIL A HOT TOPIC AT NEW TEC COUNCIL

New Tecumseth Town Council had the issue of the Trans Canada Trail on their agenda.

One resident felt that forcing people to walk or ride their bikes on the 10th Sideroad, as part of the trail system, was dangerous, due to speeding traffic and poor road conditions.

Councillor Shira Harrison-MacIntyre agreed.

She feels having pedestrians travel through the property owned by WD Potato was an appropriate alternative.

Councillor Donna Jebb disagreed.

A representative of WD Potato says it is very dangerous to have anyone around their property, especially during harvest.

He said if could not come up with an appropriate alternative, the owner was willing to involve take legal action to make sure pedestrians stayed off the property.

Councillor Jebb says the stretch of Sideroad 10, proposed as part of the trail system, would be upgraded to allow for safe passage of both walking pedestrians and those on bicycles.
