THE NEXT WARDEN OF SIMCOE COUNTY MAY BE AN UNELECTED APPOINTEE
9/11/2017 12:53:57 PM

Simcoe County may be changing the way they choose the next Warden.

The County's Governance Committee is recommending County Council appoint an unelected person to become the Warden for the full term of council which is four years.

Currently they elected a member of council who serves a two year term.

Essa Mayor Terry Dowdall is the Deputy Warden but he also chair of the governance council.

He says growth in the County is what spurred the desire for change.

He says the same people will choose the Warden, it just won't be one of them.

The potential change is on County Council agenda for Tuesday (sep 12).
