Local jobless figures are heading the wrong way.

While it was released last week that the federal unemployment rate and the Ontario jobless rates both dropped, ours went up a couple of points.

Federally the number dropped from 6.5% in June to 6.3% in July.

That's the lowest it's been in 9 years.

The unemployment rate in Ontario fell to 6.1% from ?6.4% and has been below the national average for 28 months.

Locally, the unemployment rate went from 6.7% in June to 6.9% in July.
