If you're a trucker or a driver of a commercial vehicle, the police will be keeping a close eye on you and your vehicle Friday (jun 16).

The OPP, along with the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of the Environment, will be inspecting transport trucks as part of Operation Corridor.

Sgt Kerry Schmidt from the OPP's Highway Safety Division tells myFM that damaged axles, blown tires or detached wheels, faulty brakes, unsecured loads are just some of the many factors in truck-related crashes.

He says over the past three years, 344 crashes were a result of defective trucks.

That resulted in 6 fatalities, and 37 injuries as a result.
